Volcanoes are indispensable for life. Around volcanoes the land is very fertile, there is abundance of fruits and vegetables, and there is also the presence of metals attractive to the economy. The water near the volcanoes is very pure. Our planet and all its natural resources offer incredible things to mankind. Everybody can enjoy and take advantage of the beauty of volcanoes. In Ecuador, most of its natural resources are being explored through activities such as tourism. Adventure tourism is a growing activity, where many people from around the world travel to this country to enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains, lakes, snow-capped mountains and of course the volcanoes. Visiting the volcanoes of Ecuador is something that attracts many foreigners and nationals. The beauty of their landscape is spectacular, but the force that can emanate from by eruptions can be so overwhelming that they could potentially wipe out their surroundings.
People who live near to flank of volcanoes must understand that they live in an area of high risk. Therefore it is very important to understand the contingency plans adopted by the local municipalities, and it is important, as citizens, to be informed of any unusual change in the activity of the volcanoes. Learning more about the volcanoes is a responsibility from all citizens of a country where they are virtually and literally surrounded by volcanoes, many of them very active.
This is part of keeping harmony with nature and also part of living in relative peace with the volcanoes.
